Pride and Passion is a return for Staffordshire Buddies to our
roots of passion, advocacy and grass roots community
empowerment and development; to be proactive in raising
awareness around HIV and the needs of the people we serve
and provide services on their behalf.

This theme of this year’s annual report is “Let’s Get Real” which was also the theme of our World AIDS Day Campaign. This campaign highlighted both the increasing number of people affected and the consequences of acquiring HIV infection.
The Charity continues to be challenged by the growth of the HIV epidemic and we find ourselves helping more people every year. In this annual report we look at our achievements over the previous year and some planned developments.

Staffordshire Buddies was launched on World AIDS Day 1 st December 1993 to coincide with the global theme “A Time to Act”. In the period covered by this Annual Report Staffordshire Buddies reached its fifteenth anniversary which we commemorated with a local World AIDS Day campaign themed “A Time to Remember”
We have also chosen this theme for our Annual Report which contains numerous references to past achievements and the milestones of the Charity’s fifteen year history.

In 2003 we commemorated the tenth anniversary of the founding of Staffordshire Buddies by publishing a short history of the Charity. The publication charts the growth of Staffordshire Buddies from the years that led to the recruitment of our first volunteers right up to the tenth anniversary of the Charity in 2003. It is illustrated throughout with pictures from the period and the memories of those who were part of this remarkable story.
