A very warm hello to you all! So much has happened since the last Positive Lives. We have welcomed new staff members, and said farewell to others. We have had an increase in client referrals which have kept us busy and on our toes! The centre has been very busy with clients using the Internet facility, drop ins, therapy and helping with admin and phone cover for which we are very grateful. The lead up to World Aids Day has as usual been busy. Schools have been requesting presentations to be delivered and Sarah has been organising many events to take place in and around the area. (See Sarah's WAD itinerary) The Women's group has met up on a regular basis and is looking forward to new activities in the New Year. The TNT club has enjoyed a successful summer on various outings including: Day Trip to Wales, Alton Towers (the kids favourite of course!) The Cinema, Bowling and Pizza Hut. We now have between 10-15 children who regularly access the TNT club. Which is great news! Not only are we able to offer the children exciting day trips and time to have fun with other kids but it also allows the parents/guardians some much deserved peace and quiet! The Children's Christmas Party is planned for December 22nd and we are also hoping to visit the Panto at The Regent Theatre in January. An after school TNT activity is to take place within the next couple of weeks. We will be making full use of the children's computers we purchased with the money from t he SRB5 Fund of which we are very grateful. We have recently seen
an increase of children and families affected or infected by HIV. Much
of my work has centred around offering Staffordshire Buddies services
to the families involved. I was very fortunate to attend a recent lecture
given by Dr Gareth Tudor Williams of St Mary's London and Dr Paddy Mc
Masters of North Staffs Although busy, the atmosphere at the centre remains warm and optimistic. So anyone out there who feels apprehensive about coming to the centre, I can assure you of a very warm welcome. If you wish to visit the centre outside the usual drop in times then please telephone me. Here's to an eventful and successful World Aids Day and wishing you all a lovely Christmas.
