....or better still....

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

The evening of the last Friday in May was chosen for this years cruise along the Shropshire Union Canal. The weather was perfect and Nantwich braced itself for the arrival of the happy band of sailors. Food and drink aboard, we set off. The photographs say it all...

1)Here we have the happy crew drinking, smoking, eating food, admiring the scenery as we gaily made our way towards Acton.

2)Two of the party chose to party in the main lounge while the rest found it necessary to entertain/terrorise the sweet elderly couples enjoying their evening stroll. Would the Shroppy ever be the same again?&ldots;

3)... not least because of Dennis's sterling performance as Kate Winslet. For the Titanic read Felix: for the mid-Atlantic read Nantwich boatyard - a low-budget movie, this one. (Even the iceberg had to be replaced by a submerged shopping-trolley!)

4) And bringing up the rear steering the famous boat was Errol with his assistant Brian, keeping a look-out for Gregor, the boat’s mascot, who jumped ship at regular intervals.
Safely back in port, the party adjourned to a local (the only) hostelry in Acton. One of the best boat trips to date. Did I hear Robert suggest that a giant, glittery, pink shoe and twenty metres of chiffon be purchased for the next trip?
