On a dry, fairly warm Tuesday 1st April our Easter party drop in was held. Myself, Sarah, Jody and Ann made the preparations complete by hiding lots of Easter eggs around the centre for the children to find. Julie and Vikki, who were looking after the children, set up the boundaries with them of where they could or couldn’t go so as to let Tracey put her feet up for the afternoon.
As each person came in they were given a raffle ticket for our special Easter egg to be drawn in the afternoon. The centre soon filled up with service users, volunteers, counsellors, health professionals and centre staff, until there were about 20 people in all.
I soon became aware that there was also a rather large child called Dennis, who, when we started the game to find the Easter eggs, joined in with a passion, to find as many Easter eggs as the children.
The children seemed to love the challenge to get more Easter eggs than Dennis and when they did, they offered some to Dennis, which was nice to see. The big Easter eggs and the video prize were hidden in the garden and we nearly had to replant the bulbs after Dennis had finished uprooting them to get the prizes. After all the energy was used up hunting the eggs Dennis had to have a sit down. The children of course wanted more so Julie and Vikki sent me out to buy a football and off they went. Oxygen was provided to Julie after about ten minutes and then was substituted by me, the only two left-footed football player around. The children took great pleasure in using my legs as target practice and thought it so funny when Vikki had to go in the undergrowth to retrieve the ball.
At 4pm it was time to draw the raffle, Dorothy won the special Easter egg while Dennis looked on in disbelief. He was sure that he was going to win it, but eventually his ticket came out – last. I think every one enjoyed the event and the children especially. I would like to thank everyone that helped to make the day successful.

Neil Pepper.
