An almost spontaneous proposal sprang up at one of the drop-ins, the idea that it would be pleasant to have a patio area at the back of the Centre for sitting out in the Summer - if we have one. This idea was quickly taken up and suggestions for barbecues, hammocks, garden parties, fountains and a pond with fish came flooding in.
Feet back on the ground, it fell to Maurice and I to organise the patio.Firstly the tubs were ordered from the Probation Service workshops, and very fine and reasonably priced they were. (Free, in fact, thanks to Mike Birkett- Ed)
A working party was arranged to creosote them in a fetching shade of green and we were up and running. The tubs were filled with compost and planted with crocus, hyacinth, tulips and daffs for Spring. Neil was in charge of watering - a dab hand with the watering can is our Neil.
Further intentions are - Virginia Creeper to climb the walls, gorgeous red leaves for Autumn colour.
Geraniums, fuschias, petunias, begonias for Summer. Maybe a climbing rose or two for perfume.
If anyone has a particular plant they would like to see, please get in touch with either myself or Maurice, we are always open to suggestions - but only of a horticultural nature
