Matt Wills Is the South Staffordshire Development worker for Staffordshire Buddies. Here he brings our readers up to speed on what's been happening since he came into post… Well,
doesn't time fly? I have now been in post for six months - although
it doesn't seem that long. By now I think I have met most people, but
for those of you I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet - my name
is Matt Wills and I am working for Staffordshire Buddies as Direct Services
Development Worker. Basically
my role is to develop services for people living with HIV in South Staffordshire. Since
starting at Buddies I have been involved in a range of things. I've
established contact with virtually all people diagnosed as living with
HIV in South Staffordshire and discussed with them their needs and the
services they might want from us. I've then worked with volunteers to
start meeting those needs. These can range from transport to clinics
as far away as Birmingham to help with housing and benefits forms. I've
also been involved in the TnT club Christmas party - loads of jelly
and ice cream and Father Christmas too!. I'm not sure who enjoyed it
the most - the kids or the adults. Great fun was had by all, and I'd
like to thank all those that were involved in this for the time and
effort that was put in to make it a brilliant day. Finally
I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past six months.
Obviously it is always a difficult time starting a new job, but everyone
has made me feel very welcome. Take care, hope to speak to you soon. Matt |
