A presentation by Paul Sanderson MESMEN project on the evening of Wednesday 26th April 2000 at the Upper House, Barlaston
HIV Prevention - What’s the Point? Well – what is the point? Paul opened the debate – presenting figures (fairly recent) of the growth and spread of the infection UK and World Wide. A select band joined us and we launched into Gay men Bisexuals and other Men who have sex with Men (curious category.) The big prob. at present is the unprotected sex indulged between HIV+ with HIV- “punters”. And that’s the rogue element – if it goes on willy nilly (as ‘twere) the virus spreads unchecked – and there is no cure – a lifetime of daily drug therapy, however simple that therapy becomes, is a sentence we can do without and thus -Yes there is a POINT-in HIV Prevention interventions targeting MesMen (as that’s still the largest single group diagnosed).
