Thanks to everyone who called, emailed or passed on appreciative messages about the last edition of "Positive Lives". Finding that readers like what we produce means a lot to the hard working editorial team.

Message from MUSICAID

MUSICAID would like to say a big thank to Positive Lives and its readers for supporting our 1999 World AIDS Day events.

As a result of the concerts at St. Peter’s Church Stoke and Litchfield Cathedral and the raffle we were able to hand out £1,000. Staffordshire Buddies received £600, The National Long Term Survivors Group £200, The Edward Myers Unit £100 and the Swaziland HIV/AIDS project £100.

Phone message

In a phone call one of our London readers informed us that he had written an article for “Positive Nation” about the trials and tribulations of a positive person getting dental treatment on the NHS. Although he is describing his experiences in London, I know that one or two of our local readers have had similar experiences. In any case it is an amusing well written piece worth looking up.

The article is entitled “hanging on by the skin of my teeth” and you will find it on page 53 of May 2000 edition of Positive Nation.

Thank you Terry for drawing this sad but humorous account to our attention.

WHAT IS LIFE ALL ABOUT?

I don’t really know, all that I do know is that when we are born
Our destiny is to die.
For I have this thing it’s in my blood,
I can’t see it, feel it, or understand it.
It works in so many different ways that it’s hard to work out,
But it’s there waiting to come out.

I take pills to control this thing, but the outcome no one knows.
They make me sick, they make me itch, but most of all they are for life.
I don’t want to take them, they make me gag, but then again I want a life.
I don’t want to die, nor be ill, so the pill is my life.
But most of all I do have a life,
I’m here, doing what I want to do.
For they tell me you’re a long time dead, so this will have to do.
It’s not by choice, but by mistake, an error was made on my behalf
So all I can do is try to live, and see the best in everything.
Trials and tribulations are sent to try, so I must be strong to live my life.
It’s not easy, but what is? At the end of the day I’m here!
Yes I’m here and things need to be done, so give me the chance,
And I shall have won, for destiny calls for all.

This is my tail of woe, if I let it, but I must be strong to beat it.
So take control, and live your life to the bestest.
At the end of the day one life we have, so make the most of it,
No matter what happens a choice can be made to make it so much better.
Have no regrets, or bitterness, just learn by ones mistakes,
For life shall be so much easier, for correctable are mistakes.

Life is to live
Life is to enjoy
Life is to be happy
Life is to be sad
Life is to cope
Life is to learn
Life is to dream
Life is to be what ever you want
But most of all it’s life!
