Staffordshire Buddies Health Promotion services provide a range of community and peer led activities with the aim of empowering communities as well as HIV prevention and sexual health promotion work throughout South Staffordshire. Our centre is based in Lichfield but we run services throughout South Staffordshire notably, Burton, Tamworth, Cannock as well as Lichfield.
Our aim is to reduce the number of people acquiring HIV and other sexually transmitted infections through providing both individual support and population level health promotion campaigns. You can read more about our aims and priorities by clicking here...
We support and run

- Advocacy and Support Services
- Training, workshops and support around sexuality, gender identity, Trans issues, relationships, PSHE, HIV and Sexual health and well-being and same sex domestic abuse
- Sexwize (Men 18 and over) - Specialist work around social networks, outreach and community testing in public sex areas and sauna's.

We host and support LGB&T South Staffordshire which provides groups and services as well as advocacy, training and support to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans communities in South Staffordshire. Some of the groups and services we run are led by ourselves but many are run by peers and the community themselves.

We also support community development and are planning to launch an LGB&T community Forum for South Staffordshire. Sexwize
Our Sexwize project understakes HIV and Sexual health promotion work directly with gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men. This project targets men age 18 and over. We can offer individual support, group support and services by post including leaflets and free condoms and lube.
The project includes
- Support work around community testing in Sauna's
- Work in Public sex areas
- Internet outreach
- Confidential and free Condom and Lube scheme
- One to one support
- Prison Work - including supporting men who have sex with men.

Specialist Young People Work
We undertake work in schools, colleges to tackle homophobic bullying and to assist with relationships and sex education. We support the youth forum for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Questioning) young people .
We also run SHAFT which is our peer youth services aimed at 'mystery shopping' services that provide health and social care services for young people under the age of 25.
SHAFT has recently been asked to work with the Fire Service and Trading Standards around improving services for young people.
We also run workshops, events and activities to raise awareness of LGB&T youth issue, sexuality, HIV and sexual health services.
